Wishes pour in as Jagdeep Dhankhar declared the new Vice President of India. See posts here

With the Vice Presidential outcomes declared on Saturday, India’s new Vice President is none apart from the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Jagdeep Dhankhar. The NDA candidate on Saturday received the vice presidential election by bagging greater than 500 votes, whereas opposition candidate Margaret Alva polled lower than 200 votes, in line with information company PTI report. Celebrating the victory, needs poured in from all quarters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the new Vice President of India, together with host of different leaders, together with the Opposition candidate Margaret Alva.

Opposition candidate Margaret Alva congratulated Jagdeep Dhankhar on being elected Vice President, she wrote, “I wish to thank all the leaders of the Opposition, and MPs from throughout events who voted for me in this election. Also, all the volunteers for his or her selfless service throughout our quick however intense marketing campaign.”

Notably, the Vice President of India is the second-highest constitutional submit in the nation and is elected by an electoral school consisting of members of the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha. Jagdeep Dhankhar, a lawyer by occupation, joined politics in 1989 and went on to develop into the governor of West Bengal in July 2019. Dhankar made headlines since then over his tumultuous relations with the Mamata Banerjee authorities and tendered his resignation as the Governor of West Bengal, information company ANI reported.
